Exploring Large-Scale Wave Energy Farms In India
Strategic partnership agreement signed to evaluate and pioneer commercial utility-scale ocean wave and marine renewable energy farms along the Indian coastline.
In a pioneering step toward harnessing ocean power, Opera Energy has entered into an international collaboration to explore the development of large-scale marine wave energy farms along the coastline of India.
India boasts a vast coastline of over 7,500 km with significant wave energy potential estimated between 40 GW and 60 GW. The western coastline, particularly the Gulf of Khambhat and Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat, offers consistent wave hydrodynamics ideal for commercial conversion.
Wave energy represents a highly predictable, dense, and round-the-clock clean energy source that complements seasonal solar and wind resources without requiring inland land acquisition.
Opera Energy is conducting hydrodynamic modeling, seabed geotechnical surveys, and environmental impact assessments to identify pilot deployment sites for advanced wave energy converter (WEC) technologies.
